  • Electronegativity: The more electronegative element leads to shielding of the proton and the signal appears downfield and vice versa.
  • Anisotropy Effect: Compounds that have a double or triple bond include the pi-electron which generates an induced field that can change the state of the electrons and therefore lead to shielding or shielding.
  • Hydrogen bonding: This increases the chain length resulting in protecting the proton and shifting downfield in the spectrum. If it is reduced there will be shielding of the proton and upfield shifting.
  • Vendor Wall Displaying: In complex molecules, it may be possible that some protons may form a steric hindrance leading to shielding of the protons.
