Fluorinated solvents are high-performance chemicals used to remove contaminants from high-value parts and components. Contaminants include solids, such as particles and fibers, and residues such as oils and greases. Since fluorosolvents do not leave water stains or residue, using them does not require follow-up cleaning procedures.

Fluorosolvents have low surface tension, which means they are better at penetrating narrow spaces, cavities, and blind holes. They are ideal for cleaning a variety of substrates because of their good compatibility with metals, plastics and elastomers.

Fluorosolvents can be used in vapor degreasers, which require smaller floor space and less energy than aqueous systems, because of their shorter cleaning and drying cycles. Although cleaning with fluorosolvents uses heat, their boiling point is much lower than that of water, which takes less energy and time.

Because fluorosolvents are exceptionally stable, you can use them multiple times without pH monitoring and stabilizer additions. It offers a low cost per unit cleaned.

Environmental Benefits of AMOLEA™ AS-300 and AS-300AT Fluorosolvents

Our AMOLEA AS-300 and AS-300AT grades are next generation non-flammable fluorinated solvents based on the Hydrochlorofluoroolefin (HCFO) chemical. Thanks to this new technology, they have excellent cleaning solvency, are not regulated as Hazardous Air Pollutants (HAPs) and have a Global Warming Potential (GWP) of less than 1.

The EPA’s SNAP program lists AMOLEA AS-300 and AS-300AT solvents as acceptable for electronics cleaning, metal cleaning, precision cleaning, and coating retardant. Officially called the Critical New Choice Policy, SNAP is designed to review and certify substitute chemicals and technologies that are more environmentally friendly than their predecessors.

These solvents have an advantageous boiling point that enables low solvent loss. AS-300 cleaning agents also have no flash points and are not flammable, making them safe for the work environment. The AMOLEA AS-300 and AS-300AT have Kb values ​​of 44 and 118, respectively, providing higher solvency.

AMOLEA AS-300 and AS-300AT solvents are ideal replacements for hydrofluorocarbon (HFC) solvents and low-boiling-point HCFO solvents as well n-propyl bromide (NPB or 1-BP) and trichlorethyleneWhich are both undergoing risk assessment under the EPA’s Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) and are at high risk of being banned in cleaning applications.
