In addition, we offer three specialized testing centers dedicated to our fluoroelastomer, fluorinated water/oil repellent, chlor-alkali and FEVE resins product lines. Through these specialized laboratories, we partner with our clients to create the right solutions for their application needs.

AFLAS fluoroelastomers are used to increase the durability and longevity of equipment components used in demanding industries. These industries include oil and gas production, chemical processing, and transportation. Our AFLAS testing laboratory is used to test specific formulations. It also helps customers choose the AFLAS grade that best meets their specific product performance needs. Asahigard Testing Lab

The 2,000-square-foot laboratory supports both AGC R&D and customers’ product development, with equipment including:

  • Extrusion resistance test fixture to evaluate aspects of material suitability for seals under high pressure;
  • Thermtest thermal conductivity test system to evaluate the ability of a material to act as a thermal insulator;
  • Automatic and programmable temperature and pressure controller for 10L Parr pressure vessel helps determine rapid gas decompression resistance of molded parts while tracking and saving all data to allow automatic programming of pressure and temperature profiles Is;
  • A four-inch two-roll rubber mill with a fully temperature-controlled roll, which lets operators control roll speed independently and allows manufacturing of small batches of polymer for laboratory evaluation; And
  • French Vision Series 100-Ton Molding Press with 18-inch-square isothermal platens that allow precise temperature and pressure control featuring programmable process cycling.

asahigard Water/Oil Repellent Testing Laboratory

AsahiGuard products are water/oil resistant to fluorinated fabrics, non-woven fabrics, paper and other materials. Fabrics and nonwovens treated with Ashiguard resist dirt, oil and water, making them easy to clean and long lasting. Our Asahigard Water/Oil Testing Lab has comprehensive testing equipment specialized in developing repellents for textiles and nonwovens.

This 1,800-square-foot laboratory supports application services such as fabric preparation, treatment, drying, curing and ironing. Performance testing services include water repellency, oil repellency, spray performance, stain resistance, wash durability, hydrostatic testing, static decay and surface reactivity.

These resources help us better support customers in their quest to develop, test and implement innovative products that remove oil, water and dirt. Our state-of-the-art laboratory includes:

  • A Mathis pad coater and RK multicoater to provide various coating tests for paper, textile and nonwoven;
  • Rapid Stenter/Dryer, which provides stable drying and curing of coated textile and nonwoven samples;
  • Electrolux Wasteer automatic washing machine that ensures repeatable and reproducible experimental wash cycles for test clothing;
  • The Kenmore AATCC-cycle tumble dryer is used for repeatable and reproducible experimental drying cycles for test clothing;
  • AATCC Spray Tester that provides repeatable characterization of water resistance in coated fabrics and nonwovens;
  • Texttest Hydrostatic Head Tester, which measures the resistance of coated nonwovens to penetration from high-pressure liquids as may be encountered in medical scenarios; And
  • ETS static decay meter, which provides more information about the charge management properties of coated non-woven fabrics.

Brine Testing Laboratory for Chlor-alkali Producers

AGC’s commitment to advancing the chlor-alkali industry includes the production of FORBLUE™ FLEMION™ ion exchange membranes to produce caustic soda and caustic potash in electrolysis plants. Flamion membranes require less electric current to decompose the pure brine, reduce the impact of brine impurities, and enable manufacturers to maintain 97–98% electric current efficiency.

Our Brine Membrane Testing Lab is used for the analysis of brine and crude salt and complete extraction from the used membranes. Additionally, our experts prepare samples, conduct specialized tests and assist with history and record keeping of chlor-alkali producers. Special equipment in the 600-square-foot lab includes:

  • Inductively coupled plasma, which detects impurities such as calcium, magnesium, strontium, aluminum, silicon, iron, nickel, barium, phosphorus, copper and manganese;
  • ion chromatography, which measures sulfate, chlorate, and iodine levels;
  • Total organic carbon, often used when determining water quality and which indicates the amount of organic carbon in a sample; And
  • Auto titrator, which calculates the concentration of salt in a saline solution

lumiflon Fluoropolymer Resin Testing Lab

LUMIFLON FEVE RESIN Used in topcoats to protect paints and structures from harsh environmental elements such as UV, salt, sand and water. These ultra-weatherable resins can be formulated into coatings with a wide range of luster and colour. At the LUMIFLON Testing Laboratory, our experts use state-of-the-art technology to test fluoropolymer-based coating systems. Our services include cross section coating morphology testing using SEM/DMX, microtome using specialized equipment including:

LUMIFLON FEVE TESTING LABORATORY

  • MP24PC Integra Extruder from Baker Perkins (a fully integrated process system);
  • Rach Se Ultra Centrifugal Mill Type ZM 200 is used for the reduction of soft to medium-hard and fibrous materials;
  • Vibratory sieve shaker AS200 is used for dry sieve from rach;
  • repeat LT manual powder spray system, a manual powder coating system; And
  • Q Lab’s four QUV-A Weathering Testers test the weatherability of the coatings.

The LUMIFLON Resins Testing Laboratory has all the equipment needed to mix and grind pigments and apply conventional coatings on a variety of substrates to test physical properties such as:

  • impact resistance
  • flexible
  • commentary
  • viscosity
  • pencil hardness
  • color

Lab technicians can also perform accelerated corrosion testing and exterior testing for real-world weathering risk.
